UNEP'S TEAM 2010

I slept early yesterday after a vary exhausted day at work. It was the second day of our 1st institutional strategic planning activity and it was really tiring.

Although, in a way I was disappointed because I was not able to finish the OKRAPISPATRES activity yesterday, we were able to finally come up with an institutional vision-mission that would hopefully bring all our efforts into perspective.

I was happy because at least I learned that everybody in this University was interested to promote the its welfare. Everybody also understood that this University has a great soul that has to be set free from the bonds of mediocrity. We have also decided to give our group a name, the UNEP TEAM 2010. You see, we have time-bounded our vision by year 2010. I sure hope we complete what we have set out to do.

Today, I might have woken up still a little exhausted but I am happy that UNEP has finally woken up from her slumber.

Here's to a great new day UNEP!

I was told about this spot and forgive me if I am a little bit skeptic. I’ve heard all this talk before; goals, missions, and visions. Unfortunately however, all of them were left unrealized.

It’s been six years now since I have graduated from UNEP high school and it is obvious that rather than improving, UNEP has regressed even further. The problem with UNEP is it lacks direction. Yes there are goals, missions and visions, but if you look closely, no concrete steps were taken to reach those lofty ideals. Just look at the infrastructure, well at least the burned building is gone, but aside from the gym, what else can you show us.

It should be remembered that UNEP is a product, and like any product it requires good image and packaging. Sorry to say, UNEP has a terrible image. No matter how good the academics is, people still look at the facilities (UP of course an exception to this).

If you visit the UNEP campus, what you see are unfinished buildings. This sends the wrong signals. What does it say to parents or students who want to enroll in the University? It suggest that perhaps, like the buildings of UNEP, its students are also unfinished, they graduate unpolished; they graduate without really being equipped with all the skills that they will require to find a job.

I love that school, I had great memories there, and I really do hope you can turn things around.
